Shopping List · Support

One list your whole household shares. Answers to the common questions are below, along with a way to reach us.

Getting started

  1. Open the app, pick the name you'll be shown by, and create a list.
  2. Tap Share Link and send it to whoever shops with you — WhatsApp, Messages, however you like.
  3. Anyone who opens the link joins the list and can add or check off items. That's it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. There's no username, no password and no email to verify. The name you pick is a display name only, shown next to the items you add. You do need to be signed in to iCloud on your device, because that's what your lists sync through.

How do I invite other people?

Inside a list, tap the share button and then Share Link. Anyone who opens the link joins — there's no limit on how many people can be in a list, and they don't have to do anything beyond opening it.

If they don't have the app, the link opens a page showing a ten-character code. After installing, they can paste that code into the Join a List screen.

I got a link and it doesn't open the app

That happens when the link opens inside WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook — their built-in browsers block apps from being opened. Open the link in Safari instead (those apps have an Open in Safari item in their menu), or copy the code from the page and paste it into the Join a List screen.

How does sorting into aisles work?

Every new item files itself into one of ten aisles — Produce, Dairy & Eggs, Bakery, Meat & Fish, Frozen, Pantry, Snacks, Drinks, Household, and Personal Care. It understands both English and Hebrew item names.

If something lands in the wrong place, tap it and choose Move to aisle. In that list, it will remember your choice the next time anyone adds it.

Can I add my own categories?

Yes. In the categories screen you can add an aisle with its own name, icon and colour — Shabbat, Baby, Pharmacy, whatever you need. A category you add belongs to that one list and shows up for everyone in it. It doesn't change how items are sorted anywhere else.

The list isn't updating for everyone

Check these, in order:

  • Everyone is signed in to iCloud — Settings › [their name] on the device.
  • There's a network connection. Offline, changes are saved on the device and sync later.
  • In the app's Settings, the iCloud row says "Signed in — your lists sync."
  • Pulling down on the list refreshes it by hand.
I can see the list but I can't change anything

If you see "This list is read-only on this device", that's a permissions problem on our side, not yours. Write to us and we'll fix it — it helps to include the list's name and whatever the app's Settings screen shows under "Last CloudKit error".

Does it work in a shop with no signal?

Yes. You can keep adding and checking off items with no connection — the changes are saved on your device and sync the moment you're back online. Until then, the others won't see them.

Why don't I get notifications?

The app deliberately doesn't send any. Updates arrive quietly in the background, so the list is already current when you open it. If background updates are blocked, the app refreshes itself every few seconds instead.

How do I leave a list, and what happens to it?

On the lists screen, swipe a list to get Leave list. It disappears for you and stays for everyone else. You can rejoin any time with the same link.

How do I delete an item or clear the list?

Tapping an item moves it to the cart, and tapping it again brings it back. To remove it for good, tap the item and choose Remove, or swipe it. Anything you remove disappears for everyone in the list.

How do I change my name or the app's language?

In Settings. You can change your display name and choose between English, Hebrew, and your device's language. In Hebrew the whole interface is mirrored right to left.

Privacy

No accounts. We don't collect email addresses, phone numbers, contacts or location, and there's no analytics of any kind in the app. There is one banner ad, and a one-time purchase in Settings removes it for good.

What's stored

All of it lives in iCloud, in the app's own container, and on your device too so the list appears the instant you open the app. Anyone holding a share link can join that list and see it, so only send it to people you want in it.

Auto-sorting

To work out which aisle a new item belongs in, the item's name — and nothing else — is sent to a sorting service we run. The list's name, your display name and any device identifier are not sent with it. The answer, say "Dairy & Eggs", is remembered so the same item is sorted instantly next time, for everyone.

Ads

The banner is served by Google AdMob. To show it, Google may collect your device's advertising identifier, data about which ads were shown and tapped, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Your lists, item names and display name are never sent to advertisers and are not used for advertising.

Ads don't appear the first several times you open the app — there's time to settle in first. Before they start, you'll be asked whether tracking is allowed. If you say no you'll still see ads, just not personalised ones. You can change that answer at any time in the device's Settings, under Privacy & Security → Tracking.

For anyone who has bought Remove Ads, the ad SDK is never loaded at all and nothing is collected for advertising.

How Google uses data from apps that use its services is described on this page.

Deleting

Leaving a list removes it from your device. Deleting the app removes your display name and the local copy. To have a list deleted from the server entirely, write to us with its code and we'll remove it.

Still stuck?

Write to us. We answer within a day or two, in English or Hebrew.
